WHY: This is an opportunity for partner agencies to come together and walk through the steps of a major oil spill so that if one ever does happen in the Southern California area we are prepared and we know who we will be working with.

“The event not only satisfies federal exercise requirements mandated by the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 but more importantly serves as a forum to educate the community and improve our ability to effectively respond to a pollution scenario off our coveted shoreline,” said Coast Guard Lt. Marie Sevin, the exercise’s planner. “This exercise provides an opportunity for all responders to work together to consult on local issues and improve communications and coordination for potential responses to pollution incidents along the coast.”
