CUTTER RECOVERS NARCOTICS

SAN DIEGO --  The Coast Guard Cutter Blackfin, an 87 foot vessel homeported out of Santa Barbara, Calif., was performing a routine patrol off the coast of Mexico Nov. 14, when it received word of an abandoned vessel with objects in the water.

The deserted vessel was discovered approximately 70 miles northwest off the coast of Punta Baha, Mexico unmanned and floating freely with almost 1,000 pounds of narcotics found aboard.

The narcotics were brought on board Coast Guard Cutter Blackfin and transported to San Diego for disposal.
