Coast Guard re-opens base after bomb scare

SAN DIEGO -- The Coast Guard has re-opened it's Sector San Diego base this afternoon after a bomb scare had caused it to secure.

The San Diego Fire Rescue, acting as on scene commander, determined the suspicious package to not be an explosive device.

Non-essential personnel were evacuated from the base, but all Coast Guard law enforcement and search and rescue capabilities were maintained.
