Coast Guard searching for overdue boater in Southern California

SAN DIEGO -- - Coast Guard Sector San Diego is searching for a missing 45-year-old man who departed the San Diego Yacht Club on Thurdsay morning and was expected to arrive in Dana Point, Calif., later that night.

Missing is Daniel Formica of Dana Point, is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and wears eyeglasses.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Sector San Diego began searching local marinas after recieving a report from the owner of the sailing vessel at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, stating that his friend left the yacht club on Thursday morning transiting north to Dana Point.

Coast Guard Sector San Diego is requesting that anyone with information concerning this case contact the command center at (619) 278 7031.
