Coast Guard conducts long range medevac

SAN DIEGO -- At 2 p.m. this afternoon a Coast Guard MH-60J Jayhawk helicopter crew performed a medical evacuation of a 67-year-old woman 220 miles southwest of San Diego.

The Coast Guard received a call from the Princess Saphire, a Bermuda-flagged cruise ship, requesting that a passenger suffering from a head injury be medevaced.

The helicopter crew met the Princess Saphire 220 miles southwest of San Diego and transferred the woman to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla in stable condition.
