Coast Guard Suspends Search
SAN DIEGO – The Coast Guard suspended the search for survivors at 12:30 p.m. from a plane that crashed into the ocean about 35 miles from Oceanside, Calif., March 6.
The pilot on board has been identified as Mr. Stone Froberg, 71, of San Diego. Mr. Froberg's next of kin have been notified.
It has been determined by working with the Federal Aviation Association and local police department that the aircraft was a small single-engine, Cessna 172N. The airplane was rented from Golden Wing’s Flying Club at Montgomery Field in San Diego.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
