Correction: Coast Guard investigating report of oil spill

SAN DIEGO -- The U.S. Coast Guard is responding to a report of an oil spill four nautical miles southwest of Point Loma, Calif., this afternoon.

The oil spill was reported to the National Response Center by the U.S. Navy at approximately 11:50 a.m. A Coast Guard 33-foot response boat and HH-60J helicopter from Sector San Diego are being dispatched to survey the reported spill area.

Mariners should report any impacted areas or oil spill sightings to the National Response Center at 1-800-424-8802.

Editor's Note: Previous news release stated 11:50 p.m.  The oil spill was reported at 11:50 a.m. today.
