Coast Guard Auxiliary offers FREE Vessel Safety Examinations

SAN DIEGO -- In support of National Safe Boating Week, the Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering FREE Vessel Safety Examinations (VSE) in Point Loma, Calif., today.

Mariners who have trailerable boats are encouraged to bring their vessels to 1250 Rosecrans street. The Auxiliary will be conducting VSEs until 4:00 p.m.

A VSE is a courtesy examination of your boat to verify the presence and condition of certain safety equipment required by State and the Federal regulations.

In addition, members of the Auxiliary will also educate mariners on important tips to remember before heading out onto the water.  Such as making sure every person onboard is properly outfitted with a Coast Guard approved life jacket and knows what to do in the event of an emergency.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is a voluntary service helping the Coast Guard with their mission of keeping mariners safe and informed.
