Coast Guard responds to fuel spill in Mission Bay

SAN DIEGO Coast Guard pollution investigators from Sector San Diego responded to a report of a fuel spill in Mission Bay, Calif., Thursday.

The Coast Guard received the report of fuel in the water at approximately 8 a.m., and sent investigators to the scene. They found a 500-yard diesel sheen near the Sea Forth Marina, which was determined to be unrecoverable.

The investigators issued a Notice of Federal Interest to a possible responsible party. The cause of the spill is under investigation.
