Coast Guard searches for missing person off Mexican coast

SAN DIEGO Coast Guard crews are searching for a missing person who was aboard a boat when it capsized at approximately 4 a.m., near the Coronado Islands, Mexico.

The reporting source told the Coast Guard there were five people aboard the vessel when it capsized.

The fishing vessel Connie Sea recovered two people, and two people swam to shore. The vessel capsized about a mile from the Coranodo Islands, and the Coast Guard was notified at approximately 7:30 this morning.

The two people who were able to swim to shore were hoisted aboard the MH-60J and transported to Sector San Diego, where they were examined by emergency medical personnel and found to be in good condition.

The Coast Guard MH-60J Jayhawk helicopter and a 33-foot Special Purpose Craft – Law Enforcement continue to search for the missing person.

The Coast Guard, San Diego Life Guards and the Mexican Navy are working together to coordinate search efforts for the fifth person.
