Coast Guard medevacs injured fisherman

SAN DIEGO A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Sector San Diego hoisted and safely transported an injured 60-year-old man from a sport fishing boat 65 miles southwest of San Diego Saturday night.

The Coast Guard received notification from the 65-foot fishing boat Dominator that a passenger aboard had fallen and broken an ankle. The Coast Guard flight surgeon was consulted and determined that a medevac was recommended.

An MH-60J Jayhawk helicopter launched from Sector San Diego. Once on scene, the crew hoisted the injured passenger and transported him back to San Diego at 11:20 p.m. He was transferred to emergency medial personnel in stable condition.
