Coast Guard, CBP intercept suspected illegal migrants SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard interdicted 11 suspected illegal migrants off the coast of Imperial Beach, Calif., Sunday afternoon. The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Petrel was patrolling the area when they encountered 11 suspected illegal migrants in a 20-foot, California-registered boat. The Petrel's crew detained the suspected migrants until a Customs and Border Protection boat crew took custody of them and their boat. The suspected migrants and their vessel were transported to Coast Guard Sector San Diego and taken into custody by the Department of Homeland Security Maritime Task Force for further investigation.
