Coast Guard medevacs diver

SAN DIEGO — A crew from Coast Guard Station San Diego safely transported a 45-year-old man who had lost consciousness aboard a charter dive boat about seven miles southwest of the Mexican border Friday, Oct. 2, 2009.

The crew of the Humboldt, a diving boat homeported in Mission Bay, Calif., contacted the Coast Guard shortly after noon, stating that one of the divers aboard was in and out of consciousness.

A 33-foot rescue boat launched from Station San Diego and met the Humboldt inside Mexican waters.

The man had regained consciousness when the Coast Guard crew arrived on scene. They transported the man to San Diego, where he was transferred to Emergency Medical personnel in good condition.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
