FACT SHEET: Coast Guard boat and recreational vessel collide
* A team of National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators are en route to San Diego to investigate the collision Sunday, between a Coast Guard 33-foot response boat and a 24-foot recreational vessel in San Diego Bay. Media inquiries should be directed to the NTSB at (202) 314-6100 (NOTE: DUTY PA NUMBER IS AT END OF MESSAGE IF NO ONE ANSWERS).
* In addition to the NTSB investigation, the Coast Guard will conduct its own investigations and is fully cooperating with the NTSB. Media inquiries should be directed to the U.S. Coast Guard at (619) 278-7020/21/22/23.
* The passengers on board the pleasure craft were taken to the University California, San Diego Medical Center and Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. One of the injured passengers taken to UCSD was later pronounced dead. For further updates on patient status please contact the hospitals directly:
