SAN DIEGO – An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Sector San Diego medically evacuated a man who had suffered cardiac arrest aboard a ship approximately 4 miles south of San Diego Thursday morning.

The Coast Guard received a call from the USNS Kaiser just before 11 a.m., stating that a 66-year-old contractor working on board had suffered cardiac arrest and was resuscitated by the ship’s medical staff.

The helicopter launched from Sector San Diego and landed on board the Kaiser at 11:30 a.m.

The patient and ship’s doctor were taken aboard the helicopter and transported to Naval Medical Center San Diego.
