News Release
SAN DIEGO – The Coast Guard medically evacuated a cruise ship passenger approximately six miles west of San Diego Saturday evening.
The Joint Harbor Operations Center received a call from the crew of the cruise ship, Carnival Elation, stating that a 30-year-old woman was suffering from severe bleeding, and requested a medical evacuation. A Coast Guard flight surgeon was consulted and recommended the woman be medically evacuated.
A boatcrew from the Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team (MSST) San Diego was diverted from their mission to conduct the medevac. The woman was transferred from the cruise ship to the MSST boat, and transported to the San Diego Harbor Police dock where emergency medical services were standing by.
