COAST GUARD MEDEVACS TWO FROM CRUISE SHIP

SAN DIEGO - The U.S. Coast Guard medically evacuated two people, today, from a cruise ship, located south of San Diego.

The two people are in stable condition and were transferred to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, Calif.

U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Diego received an 11:31 a.m. call, today, from the cruise ship Paradise reporting a 43-year-old female passenger partially severed her fingers after catching her hand in a door.  Paradise was located 43 miles south of Point Loma, Calif.

Sector San Diego launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to recover the passenger.

While hoisting the female passenger, Paradise notified the Coast Guard that a 79-year-old male sufferred a heart attack.  The heart attack victim, along with a nurse from the cruise ship, was hoisted.  Both victims and the nurse were transferred to Scripps Memorial Hospital.
