BINATIONAL ORGANIZATION RECOGNIZES COAST GUARD, HELICOPTER CREW SAN DIEGO - Coast Guard Sector San Diego and a Sector San Diego helicopter crew was recognized, today, by the Binational Emergency Medical Care Committee (BEMCC) for their efforts during a Jan. 24, 2005, medical evacuation. The informal ceremony was held at Sector San Diego. BEMCC, a non-profit organization that will get you out of Mexico in case of a medical or life-threatening emergency, presented certificates of appreciation to Sector San Diego for their medical evacuation of a 76-year-old female with a broken hip, from Baja California, Mexico. Capt. John E. Long, Commanding Officer, Sector San Diego; Cmdr. Sean Mahoney, Response Chief, Sector San Diego; Lt. Cmdr. Charles Bell, a Sector San Diego HH-60 Jayhawk pilot; and Petty Officer Maclane Cunagin, a Sector San Diego rescue swimmer accepted the certificates on behalf of the 11th Coast Guard District, Sector San Diego and the Jayhawk helicopter crew.
